Sketch — A digital design toolkit for macOS and the web
I spent over 13 years helping build Sketch from a simple but powerful vector drawing app into a global industry-standard platform. During that time, I held various roles and touched almost every feature in the product.
That’s a long time to spend at one company, especially in tech, and it’s difficult to wrap it all up into a neat case study. I joined a team of just three, which eventually grew to over 200, so it felt like several different companies over the years. I started as a product designer and later became Head of Product, before deciding to return to a more design-focused role.
My work at Sketch extended well beyond the product itself. I hired and led teams, helped shape our vision and strategy, worked on marketing and branding, and created educational materials. I also organised community meetups, represented Sketch at conferences, and spent time with customers through research and support, alongside hands-on quality assurance.
Here’s a selection of features I designed or been involved with. Some read as table stakes today — at the time, many didn’t exist in design tools at all.
